Indiana (22-12), the top seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, did not dress Katie Douglas or Tammy Sutton-Brown and rested most of its other starters for most of the second half. Even so, starter Tamika Catchings and the Sun's Tan White collided heads late in the first half.

Kerri Gardin poured in a game-best 23 points, grabbed eight rebounds and doled out five assists to lead the Connecticut Sun past the Indiana Fever, 95-85, at Mohegan Sun Arena. Sandrine Gruda added 22 points for the Sun (16-18), who won two of three to close out the season on the heels of a five-game slide. Tan White finished with 11 points off the bench in the triumph.  

Becky Hammon scored 12 of her 32 points in overtime and the San Antonio Silver Stars beat the Detroit Shock 100-88 on Saturday. San Antonio forced overtime when Sophia Young hit a 14-footer with 2 seconds left to tie the game at 79. Deanna Nolan had a shot to win at the end of regulation, but her jumper bounced off the rim.  

Diana Taurasi had 21 points, nine rebounds and five assists to lead the Phoenix Mercury to a 95-84 win over the Connecticut Sun on Saturday night. Taurasi hit a 17-footer and found Penny Taylor for a 3-pointer during a key stretch of the final five minutes to help Phoenix pull away after the Mercury fell behind 80-79 with 6:25 remaining. Taylor added a pair of free throws with 1:45 left and the Mercury held the Sun scoreless over the final 3 minutes.
